Enjoy it while you can. I've had 4 close family members die in the past decade and I don't believe I deserved any of the pain that I felt. I agree that you have to get on with your life and deal with situations (which I do) or I wouldn't be here discussing this with you today. Life is managed; it is not cured.

You're still young, but I wonder if you will feel the same way in another 10 years?

Yeah.

My parent's screwed me up. Motherfsckers left me for nothing. I don't know my parents, because my parents just left me. So foster homes. Molestation. Rape. Runaway. I won't go into specifics.

I hate my parents. I don't know where they are. Or who. But I hate them. And somehow I've always felt that if I didn't come along at that point in time, none of this would have happened.

So yeah, my parents fscked me up... they made me into what I'm not today. And there's my anger for the day. And I hate parents. And that's my bias.

So all the parents out there like mine.. just leave us alone.

I feel that way after burying 27 of my friends...I feel that way after 2 years in prison...I feel that way after raising a 4 yr old child...I'll feel that way in 10 years too. Blaming other people will never be a resolution...

Like hell it won't. Do you think that I'm to blame for getting raped, molested, or beaten? In a way, I am, but that's beside the point. I'll always feel empty; I'll always feel wrong; I'll always feel..

Noone is to blame for things that happened to them as young children or young adults.....

My parents smoked pot all my life... and I turned out fine

Infact blaming other people truly isn't worth it, because half the time they will only deny that they had anything to do with what you are blaming them for.....

That's why I blame myself for Eileen. I should have gotten her into my apartment sooner. We had plans for her to move in with me, and though she insisted on moving in immediately, I wanted her to finish up her fall semester in college. If I wasn't so selfish, she'd be here now.

Not true. And deep in your soul you know that isn't true....
Somethings in life can not be helped, and they can not be changed...no matter how we want them to....Has nothing to do with being selfish, but everything to do with circumstances beyond our control...DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP AGAIN FOR SOMETHING YOU COULD NOT CHANGE.
~~ We can not change life, we can only live it~~

YOU WILL BE OKAY!!!!!

Well, I certainly hope your not blaming yourself for the death of your 27 friends, unless of course you are a mass murderer, then you would be the one to blame. If your friends died for other reasons and you blame yourself then that's a heavy burden for you and I'm sorry.

A Moderator Moment:

Please don't try to get around the word censors by putting spaces or other letters but essentially leaving the word in tact. I understand the heated nature of the topic but let's try to limit the profanity.

A Personal Thought:

Who we are is partially formed by life's experiences that fell beyond our control (i.e. parents, teasings, bullying, etc.). Note the word partially. In fact, I'd go one step further and say that who we are is minutely formed by our life's experiences beyond our control.

It is our reaction to those experiences that truly define us as people. If we choose a path of anger and resentment, we will, undoubtedly, become a bitter, angry, resentful person. If we choose to "move on", to accept the things that have happened to us but to NOT allow them to define us, if we take those experiences and turn them into something positive, then we become a happier, more content person.

In my case, I was lucky in that, though my parent divorced when I was 8, I had a terrific life and I'm still having a terrific life. Don't let that mislead you, however, into thinking that I've had an -easy- life because it hasn't been by any stretch of the imagination. But I was blessed with wonderful role models in my mother and my stepfather. Seek out people who have made a good life by way of challenging experiences. It can make all the difference in the world.

There is nothing wrong with blaming others for something they did wrong. However, you shouldn't hold resentment over such a thing in vast quantities. You have to move on otherwise you'll become more bitter and jaded as the years go by.

I don't hate my parents for anything. My dad never showed me affection of any kind and was quite blunt about everything. If I done something stupid and got hurt by it, I would receive no sympathy. He would never truely help me with anything. He'd give me advice, but tell me to do it myself. I don't hate him for that, I'd say it's the best thing he could have done for me. He's taught me to listen and take heed of my elders and that if I had caused something, I have only myself to blame and I should fix it and move on.

Mercury, I'm in the same position as you. However, I didn't find out until I was 16, so a bit earlier.

Were you born out of wedlock? If not, then eat your foot, ankle first, you are in no position to comprehend such a life-circumstance.

As I said in my first post in here, My mom was raped and here I am. Therefore, yeah, such a thing would damage someone. But then again, you seem to be Dr. Phil, so who am I kidding.

Stop breathing my air, kid.

You're having a terrific life because you met PieXags, obviously. I'm wicked like that, you know.

For once, can you be serious? No wait, I must have just gone insane, my life expeiriences caused me to react to a serious discussion with rationality...again.

I put forth my serious moment earlier in the thread, besides, I noticed some swearing going on which said to me it was a heated topic, that needed some cooling off. That's what I'm here for, afterall.
